September Wrap-Up

I didn’t read as much as I usually do. I fell into a reading slump at the beginning of this month, but I loved the books I did read this month!

I loved every one of these for different reasons and highly recommend all of them. My top three of this month would be Grave by Shantel Tessier, El Diablo II by M. Robinson, and Savage Lover by Sophie Lark.

Ryder by Prescott Lane (Rock Star Romance)- I really enjoyed Ryder by Prescott Lane. It is a wonderful love story centered around Ryder, a famous musician, and Kailey, a girl who had an instant connection when she met Ryder a couple of months ago. One night together changes everything for both of them, but the way Ryder reacted was everything in this book. Ryder’s protectiveness, stability, and caring instincts set this book apart from others that are similar.

Savage Lover by Sophie Lark (Mafia Romance) – Wow! I loved Savage Lover, which is the third book in the Brutal Birthright series. First, I like how Sophie Lark created a female character that had distinguished talents and hobbies. Camille works on cars at her father’s shop and helps him take care of her younger brother. Nero had known of Camille when they both attended the same high school, but it isn’t until Camille tries to help her brother that she gets sucked into his world. Honestly, I have a love for all of Sophie Lark’s books, but this book/series is by far my favorite. The storyline and characters are enjoyable to read, full of passion, and unique in the details.

Bull by Penny Dee (MC Romance) – Bull is an mc romance that follows Bull, the president of the King of Mayhem, and Taylor, who has been on the run with her younger brother. Taylor recently settled in a small town when she meets Bull. I truly enjoyed reading about Taylor because she was fiery from the beginning. She is the definition of a strong female character and knew how to handle herself in the situations she found herself in. Bull went through a great loss years ago the caused him to be cold and distant. Taylors’ sassy attitude and looks attracted Bull from their first interaction. But Taylor was running from a man similar to Bull, and she had no intention of letting her guard down – until she did. This book is full of steamy scenes, and action-packed scenarios.

Restrained by Nicole Dykes (Work Romance) – Lola Sterling made the decision to start her own company in under to get out from under her father’s thumb. Then Hayden walks in with a project that she can’t refuse. Hayden and Lola’s business relationship starts off rocky but the more they work together they realize their initial assumptions are far from the truth. Throw in some secrets and the pain of losing a loved one and you have a hot and entertaining read.

You Are My Hope by Willow Winters (Suspense Romance) – You Are My Hope is the duology of You Are Mine and continues the story of Mason and Julia. Julia had experienced a great loss when she lost her husband, but finding out her killer is closer than she thought unravels her. Kept hostage by Mason, in hopes of convincing her to stay willingly, the story takes off. As Julia tries to come to terms with the truth, unforeseen evils make themselves present. When Julia has no other option than to rely on Mason, feelings get blurred.

Perfect Wreckage by Catherine Cowles (Small-Town, Island Romance) – Perfect Wreckage is the second book in the Wrecked series and tells Kenna and Crosby’s story. I really enjoyed this book and how in-depth the author went with the details. I loved Crosby’s relaxed nature and how he was able to bring Kenna out of her shell. Kenna has had a horrendous past, and when that past became her present again, Crosby was there every step of the way. I also like how Catherine Cowles created Crosby as a character who came from a privileged life but used his resources to help others. This book was extremely enjoyable, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Grave by Shantel Tessier (Dark Kings Romance) – Grave is the second book in the Dark Kings series and brings readers on Grave and April’s journey. Grave is troubled while April is unique and optimistic. When Grave meets April in her flower shop, he can’t help but notice how different she is from others. April can’t deny that Grave is attractive with his body covered in tats and muscle, but she can see the storm in his eyes. When April’s brother gets into trouble, Grave and April’s lives collide. Is April the one who will calm Grave’s demons, or will the drugs and alcohol continue to numb him?

Stories of September by multiple authors (Falling at First Sight by Willow Winters) – Falling at First Sight by Willow Winters is a short story that follows a preschool teacher and a parent. Autumn and Trent have had sexual tension between them for a long time before Trent comes up with the nerve to ask her out after she accidentally spills coffee on him. Autumn has always seen Trent as off-limits because he’s her son’s teacher, but her resolve fades slowly. One date turns into many, and feelings quickly intensify.

El Diablo II by M. Robinson (Mafia Romance) – A sister kidnapped. A brother to blame and a family destroyed. Mafia life is hard, scary, and painful. For Cruz, mafia life was rarely portrayed in front of him, but he jumps headfirst when his sister is kidnapped. Sienna is the Mafia Princess, who has dreamed of her eighteenth birthday to leave this life behind, but when her father orders her to marry Cruz to align the families, she sees the end of her life. Once married, Sienna fights against Cruz every chance she gets, but Cruz continues to show his love while searching for his sister. His demons slowly take over the more time that passes, and he becomes what his father used to be, El Diablo.

Not Just Friends by T. Gephart (Brother’s Best Friend Romance) – Not Just Friends is the last book I read in September, and it was a great way to end the month. I really enjoy romances that deal with sibling’s best friends because it adds another level of friendship to the story. Presley hasn’t had much luck with guys, and now her ex-boyfriend is stalking her. Jared his best friends with Presley’s brother, Tibbs. Not only are the best friends, but they are roommates and firefighters at the same station. One night of weakness brings the attraction between Presley and Jared to light. Jared tries to fight it but is clearly unsuccessful, so they start a secret relationship that is more difficult then they thought. With a stalker getting closer and an overprotective brother, will Presely and Jared be able to keep their relationship a secret, or will it blow up in their faces?
