Dog Friendly Fall Activities
Happy Fall!!
I can’t believe it is officially Fall, and I am excited about this season’s potential. If you know me, I am a dog mom to my puppy Asher.
My husband and I rescued him at the end of October 2021, so I didn’t have much time to do all the fun Fall activities with him. However, he is now a year old but still being trained, so picking low-stress activities are essential.
Take a Scenic Walk
Asher loves going on walks, especially to new places. He loves to sniff and check out new surroundings. Depending on where you live, some gorgeous pet-friendly trails are available. If you live in NJ, check out these trails. My puppy loves them, and they have the potential to be very pretty in the Fall.
These are just a few places where you can walk your dog in NJ.
Pick a Pumpkin
One activity I am so excited about this Fall is taking Asher to a pumpkin patch. He’s never been to one but loves the pumpkins around our home, so I eagerly anticipate his reaction to being in a field of pumpkins.
I’ve researched pet-friendly pumpkin patches in NJ and had a hard time finding anyone, but I was able to find one. At this farm, friendly leashed dogs are allowed, but they can’t participate in the various activities. However, they are allowed in the pumpkin fields, and you can check their website to see cute pictures of dogs in the pumpkin patch.
Dress Up Your Pup
Since we adopted Asher, I made it a goal to get him used to wearing clothes. Overall, he doesn’t mind when I pick out stuff for him to wear, but he isn’t a fan of obnoxious costumes. You can bet on him going after it if it has arms or legs. That said, this Halloween will be the first time he’ll dress up, and I am so excited.
So, if you have a puppy that isn’t entirely convinced about wearing a full costume, I recommend getting them something like the Skeleton Glow Hoodie. This is going to be Asher’s costume this year; he looks so cute! He’s not sure about the hood, but I am hoping he used to by Halloween so he can stop at his grandparent’s house for some treats.
For the weeks before Halloween, I love putting on bowties and bandanas on him. The I Ate My Costume Bandana is adorable and reversible.
Make Homemade Treats
If you have a puppy with a sensitive stomach like me, you know it can be hard to find quality treats that don’t upset their stomach. However, while doing extensive research, I realized making homemade treats may be the best option.
A couple of months ago, I made a peanut butter banana recipe that Asher loves. The recipe I used only had three ingredients and can be found on the House that Barks Blog.
There are so many homemade treat options, and I am ecstatic to start making some pumpkin flavor treats that will be perfect for this time of year!!
There is so much you can do this season with your fur baby, and hopefully, some of these activities become traditions in your home!!
