Book Review (Series Four)

Over the past month, I have read some amazing books that I am so excited to share. A death that shakes a family to the core and a toxic relationship that causes one to reflect on themselves is prevalent in these two books.

Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell is a suspenseful story about a young girl who has her whole life ahead of her, but whose life is suddenly out of her control. Ellie is the golden child of her family but one night she doesn’t come home. Police believe she ran away but her mother, Laurel knows something happened.

Ten years after Ellie disappeared, Laurel has not given up hope that her daughter is out there but when her bones appear she needs to know the truth. One day Laurel meets Floyd at a coffee shop and they hit it off. When Laurel meets Floyd daughter Poppy she can’t help but notice the similarities between her and Ellie. This causes Laurel to dig deeper to find out what happened to Ellie.

When she does her world shatters and comes together at the same time.

I recommend Then She Was Gone to anyone who loves mysteries with a suspenseful plot full of twists and turns. The beginning of the novel starts off slow but by the middle of the book it picks up and many secrets come to life.

Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering follows the life of Lucy Albright as she attends a small college in California. There she meets Stephen DeMarco who is extremely charming and work his way into her life. As Lucy dives deeper in the life of Stephen she learns of a deep secret and his player attributes. The more Lucy wants to become more serious with Stephen he makes attempts to pull away.

Lucy is completely wrapped up in Stephen, so when he pulls away it affects her mentally and physically. She stops eating and becomes too thin, she puts her dreams on hold, and strains her friendships. After college she tries to move on from Stephen but throughout all her relationships she thought of her. Year later Lucy attends her roommates wedding and sees Stephen with his new fiancee. The months leading up to the wedding, Lucy dreaded seeing Stephen but when the day comes she realizes how toxic her relationship with him was. For the first time since college, Lucy decides to put herself and her happiness first.

I highly recommend Tell Me Lies to those who love a romance that falls around finding yourself. This dark romance full of betrayals and toxic traits will speak to all who have been belittled or used. This is perfect for young adults and will keep you captivated until the end.

The past few weeks I have read so many amazing books. Currently, I’m reading The Mister by E.L. James and I’m absolutely in love with this dark, twisted, seductive love story.

Last week I came across an amazing twelve book series that has me completely engrossed. The Keatyn Chronicles by Jillian Dodd focuses on a daughter of famous parents who finds herself fighting against a vicious stalker. As her family and friends are put into danger she decides to face her stalker head on. Throughout this horrendous time, she comes across true friends and true love. By the way, if you have a Kindle you can receive book 1 and 2 for free.
