Book Review (Series 6)
Within the past week I have finished an amazing series and am already wanting to read it again. The Crossfire Novels by Sylvia Day are powerful stories of Eva and Gideon finding love in the midst of redefining themselves.
The first book in the 5 book series is the start of a tense relationship between Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell. Eva and her best friend Cary just moved to New York ready and excited to start their new journey. As Eva maps out her route to work and checks out the impressive building she runs into Gideon Cross. Gideon Cross is successful and powerful. When he sees Eva walk into his building he can’t help but nonchalantly run into her. The attraction was instant but both have horrendous past and demons that fight to get free.
The beginning of their relationship started out with tension. Gideon tried to handle the multitude of women that felt betrayed at his sudden interest in Eva. Eva struggled with her insecurities and the past that caused them. As their relationship progressed so did the knowledge that both had major emotional trauma that hinders them from creating a lasting relationship. As trouble from the past start to appear will Eva and Gideon be able to make it work?
Each time they get past an incident another appears. Now Eva is being threatened to face her past head-on but Gideon is determined to protect her. How far will Gideon go to protect the one woman he loves? Will Eva be able to look past his decision and jealous nature? Both, Eva and Gideon know that they will need to open up if this relationship will work but the is easier said then done.
As Eva and Gideon learned to open up and trust one another, their relationship got easier. They make a sudden decision to elope while on vacation and share a romantic ceremony. As their coming home they decide to hide their marriage to the public for a while but Gideon’s past threatens to shake their new foundation. Secrets are brought out and threatened to be shared with the world. Will Gideon be able to stop the truth from coming out while keeping Eva happy?
The future seems bright. The love between Eva and Gideon is stronger than ever. Plans to have a huge reception to celebrate their wedding is in full swing, but the death of Eva’s mother causes the plain to struggle. When Eva shuts down, closing her feeling off for everyone to see, Gideon will do whatever he needs to open her up. As she tries to take care of everyone she becomes emotionally numb. Gideon is the only one who’s able to make her feel again. Will she let him or will she fight against her emotions? As the family comes down to show support it becomes clear who supports them and who doesn’t. Surrounded by those who love them Eva and Gideon share the most amazing trip filled with sorrow, love, mourning, and celebration. Through all the struggles they found peace in one another.
I am absolutely obsessed with the Crossfire Novels by Sylvia Day and the powerful story of overcoming abuse and abandonment. These novels have amazing reviews and I highly recommend them. I already can’t wait to read them again.
