My Favorite Everyday Beauty Products
Happy June!!
I can’t believe that we are already halfway through the year. So much has happened through the last six months, and so much has changed. Over the past six months, I have been slightly obsessive over what products I use and their ingredients. Product ingredients are crucial in my self-care routine for various personal reasons.
Many companies market clean products, but many of these products have chemicals that are considered carcinogens and potential endocrine disruptors. For someone who has been dealing with infertility issues for the past couple of years, I try to stay away from many chemicals but especially the chemical Phenoxyethanol (which contains potential endocrine disruptors). I know that these chemicals are regulated and a small amount in each product, but any risk is too significant.
Over the past couple of months, my mom found an app to scan individual products, showing all the chemicals and potential risks. The app, Yuka, has been an eye-opener and has shown me that many of the products that I thought were clean weren’t. The fantastic thing about this app is that it is free, and if a product comes back poor, it will recommend a few alternative products. As I just said, the app is free, but there is an option to make a “donation” of about $10-$20/yr, allowing you to search for products instead of just scanning them. I use the free version, and it works well.
Now let’s talk about my favorite beauty products.
First, we are going to talk about hair products. I recently started using a few different products from the Pacifica line. Throughout the week, I switch between two products. The Vegan Silk Hydro Luxe Shampoo and Conditioner are my absolute favorite set. This set leaves my hair so silky and soft. In addition, I use the Rosemary Purify Invogirating Shampoo and Conditioner about once a week to help with any possible product/environmental buildup.
Now, we are going to talk about body care. One of my absolute favorite body washes is the Native Coconut & Vanilla, which lathers well and has a soothing scent. Although this is one of my favorites, a girl has to have a couple of products to switch on and off with, and another favorite is the SheaMositure African Black Soap Soothing Body Wash, which helps calm my skin during breakouts.
We all know exfoliating before shaving is key to smooth/stubble-free skin. I love using a scrub before shaving, and currently, I love the SheaMositure Lavender & Wild Orchid Calming Hand & Body Scrub.
Keeping my skin smooth and hydrated is extremely important, which leads me to my following favorite product. The SheaMositure 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Body Lotion smells fantastic and leaves my skin feeling so soft. It takes a few minutes to rub the skin thoroughly, but this product is excellent.
Disclaimer: I am not an expert and am only listing products that work for me.
I consciously only use/promote products that are considered cruelty-free and clean.
